Six chess fanatics played a three round unrated chess tournament Friday, March 25 at the University of Maine. Steve Abrahams (1983) worked hard to defend his title especially in the last round with Max Berube (1569). Abrahams finished with three points and Berube with two. Berube was tied for second with Anna Bryan (952) who defeated her father Andy (1313) handily in the last round. Murray Bridges (1434) returned to action after a short hiatus to finish his studies at UMaine-Farmington to secure 1.5 points after drawing with Isaiah Fallon (731) in the final round. The Multipurpose Room tucked away in the corner of the Memorial Union was a perfect place to play chess on a Friday evening at UMaine. We hope to do this again during the next school year - thank you to players and organizers for giving the loyal chess players a place to play!
